Biodiversity

Forests are among the most biodiverse and valuable ecosystems. Forest biodiversity can impact everything from the food we eat, the medicines and products we derive from nature, to the quality of the air and water we depend upon. The health and biodiversity of our forests also helps our environment recover from disturbances and adapt to changing conditions.

Resources

Threatened and Endangered Species

We encourage our log suppliers to educate themselves on how to identify threatened and endangered species and important habitat. Your state’s wildlife conservation strategies provide information about efforts to conserve state fish and wildlife and their habitats. In addition, learn about critically imperiled (G1) and imperiled (G2) species and ecological communities in your area.

Resources

Invasive Plant and Animal Control

Invasive, exotic plants or animals can thrive and spread aggressively outside their native range. All pose a threat of displacing native species and harming the ecosystem. Be informed about these threats and what you can do to help prevent them.

Resources

Special Sites

Special Sites include ecologically or geologically unique or culturally important features. A variety of resources are available to help you locate Special Sites and identify features that would classify an area as a Special Site.
